Project Solar Uk

The Background

At ClickSlice, we love to partner with mission-led brands and use our skills for positive global change. When we were approached by the UK’s number one solar panel company, Project Solar UK, we knew we could help them make a difference to their business and a difference to the UK’s carbon footprint.
We focused on improving the online visibility of the website and generating more leads through multiple regional pages.
The solar industry is one of the most competitive industries in the UK, and due to the ever-evolving regulations around solar panels, you have to be on your top game to rank for relevant keywords.

The Keywords

We picked a variety of keywords, ranging from general questions about the industry to top-level buyer intent keywords. Here are a few examples from the campaign:
We targeted the typical “solar panel + area” keywords: these are the bread-and-butter keywords that will bring in the sales.
We also chose to go with “carbon footprint facts” as we saw this as a great way to win the ‘featured snippet’ box on Google. The featured snippet takes up a lot of on-screen real estate, so instead of letting one of their competitors take it, we wanted it.

Featured snippets work best when they provide specific, in-depth content to answer searchers’ questions. In this case, people looking to learn about their carbon footprint are often open to solar power solutions, and Project Solar is well-placed to answer their queries.
Once the keywords were confirmed, we got to work.

The Campaign

01

We started the whole campaign off by getting on-page SEO up to scratch – consistent, relevant URLs, title tags, and links. We built supporting pieces of content and linked them back to the target pages, which made a tremendous difference to the topical relevance of each page.

02

Once we’d tackled the on-page SEO, we formulated an effective content marketing strategy, produced top-quality content, and uploaded it to the website.

03

With quality content in place, we could reach out to authority websites throughout the solar industry and get some juicy backlinks to our content. With a list of relevant links, our domain authority was shooting up.

04

Of course, there are a few more elements to the ClickSlice secret sauce – but a great chef never reveals all of their ingredients!

The Results

Our campaign resulted in an increase in over 1,500 positions across all the keywords for our client!
The keyword “solar companies UK” is an extremely competitive keyword. It’s targeted by all national solar companies across the UK, so the competition is tough This keyword also sports a difficulty of 58 – near the top end of the ‘hard’ category:
Despite the odds, we got Project Solar UK ranking in top spot on the very first page of Google.
We also managed to rank Project Solar UK in the top three positions across ALL their location-specific keywords, generating a massive influx of inbound enquiries!

The Overall Traffic

When we took them on as a client, Project Solar UK  were getting around 264 visitors to their site per month.
Fast forward to now? They’re averaging about 1,134 monthly visitors.
That’s a 330% increase in organic traffic!
